The resignation of state schools Superintendent Tom Watkins in early March hinges, in part, on finalization of an offer to take a job at Wayne State University, his attorney said. The State Board of Education, which had planned a meeting to address Watkins' status Saturday, canceled the session after the schools chief announced his resignation.
